Day 1 of 15

Palace & Old Seoul

Why follow this day: Seoul's essential royal history, lived-in hanok lanes, crafts, tea, and a calm temple finish in one route-smart first day. Use the Bukchon Traditional Culture Center as the orientation stop, then begin the village walk on nearby Gyedong-gil instead of jumping to a distant generic village pin. Best days and timing: Monday or Wednesday–Saturday; Gyeongbokgung and the hanbok shop are normally closed Tuesday. Bukchon's restricted residential lanes currently allow visitors from 10:00–17:00 and close to visitors Sunday, so keep voices low and verify the current rules before the day.

Recommended stopGyeongbokgung Palace (경복궁)Gyeongbokgung

Timing: 09:35–11:00. Core route stop. Move north from Gwanghwamun through the throne hall toward the quieter pavilions rather than zigzagging. Treat the guard change as a bonus because weather can cancel it; verify seasonal hours before visiting.

Recommended stopNational Folk Museum of Korea (국립민속박물관)Gyeongbokgung

Timing: 11:00–11:50. Core route stop. Enter directly from the palace and keep the visit to about 45–50 minutes. The museum supplies useful context without turning the morning into a second exhaustive museum visit; leave through the Samcheong-ro gate.
